Manchester United and Aston Villa were due to meet at 3pm on Saturday 25 September, but the match was brought forward earlier in the day because The Courteeners have a concert that day just around the corner.

The independent band plays at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground on Saturday night and to avoid traffic congestion and overcrowding, it will be the football device that will move, now starting at 12.30pm.

Unfortunately for Red Devils fans who can’t get to the game, it won’t be televised despite the startup.

Chelsea host Manchester City in the same time slot at 12.30pm on Saturday 25 September and that will be the only match shown on TV at the time.

Manchester United released a statement saying: “Our home game against Aston Villa on 25 September was brought forward to 12.30 BST, following a request from the Trafford Council Safety Advisory Group to move the game due to the Courteeners concert in Lancashire Cricket Club, Emirates Old Trafford, same day.

“This request was supported by Greater Manchester police and TfGM to avoid significant crowding, traffic and local operations problems.

“We apologize for any disruption this may cause to our fans’ plans for the day.”

The huge concert in Manchester is sold out with The Courteeners backed by Johnny Marr, Blossoms, The Big Moon and Zuzu.
