Could it induce pregnant black women, advance their birth prematurely, make childbirth safer for black mothers?
Black women report being fired and neglected by health professionals during pregnancy, childbirth and beyond and are four times more likely to die in childbirth than women of other ethnicities.
So could it induce pregnant black women, by advancing their birth early, to solve that problem?
That is what a prominent medical committee, NICE, has proposed.
Today we spoke with a doctor who says childbirth will be safer for mothers and babies and an advocate who says early induction is not the solution to a deep and complex problem, rooted in racism and inadequate health care for black mothers. to be.
